To ensure public safety, and to determine good character and suitability for membership, applicants must meet certain membership requirements:

• NHPC massage therapists must have graduated from an NHPC recognized two-year, 2,200-hour training program, have been a member in good standing with a massage therapy regulatory college, or have completed a massage therapy training program recognized by a regulatory college

• Private massage therapy programs must be vocationally licensed, and the curriculum must meet the IJ-Doc competencies

• Applicants must provide a recent police information check, complete with a vulnerable sector search

• NHPC practitioners must meet English language proficiency requirements
